So fun on a Saturday night ;-)Sydney Turns it On!It's fun time again at the Sydney Festival with the Los Lobos blend of Tex-Mex, Latin, Rock & Roll and R & B... under a beautiful mid summer evening sky. Supporting mariachi band, The Real Mexico kicked off a great night. Felt like I was back in Mexico! Sydney's mix of cultures is invigorating.Sydney celebrates - Festival first night
Sydneysiders are out in force in the city and the festivites are rocking. Hyde Park ablaze with lights and music and circus acts. Martin Place and Macquarie Street had an amazing drumming show. It's always a good time to celebrate!
The joy of eating wellAfter months of eating an all-liquid diet, I'm returning to what I always took for granted... the ability to chomp down whatever was served up. Now I rediscover flavours and textures and just how sophisticated an organ that the tongue is! The retraining is a slow process and every day is progress. :-)An Aussie New YearAussies are out in style at Manly beach. A bright, sunny New Year's day- celebrating with French Toast and fresh berries. Yum!Ready for a Brand New YearI'm looking forward to 2011... with all the fun of the healing journey of the last 12+ months, I'm ready for the promises of a new year. Being back in Australia has been a wonderful experience. It has been a joy to have the close and loving support of family and the warmth of familiar Aussie culture that has greeted me at every turn. It is part rediscovery - and part all new. I have been navigating the Australian medical system - with some amazing doctors (and a new appreciation for Australia's Medicare system) as well as combining the contribution of natural therapies for my health. This is not only bringing what seems to be more rapid progress - but also giving me insights into the synergy of what has previously been for me two quite disconnected worlds. Somehow there is simplicity in it all. Chemo and herbal medicine, nutrition and yoga, quiet times and contemplations. I feel so much more energetic and vital and am getting stronger inside and out. One step at a time - challenging myself to avoid the 'driven' style of doing life that I seemed to have mastered in the first half! More frequent enjoyment of the stillness of meditation is still on my wish list. Sounds like a New Year's resolution! A room with a viewThis was my view from the Sydney hospital – Royal North Shore. Magnificent Sydney Harbor and our famous bridge. But more than this I have enjoyed being home at my brother Ken’s place for a week now – and the view is of a lush urban garden of flowers and greens and aromas. Tomorrow I visit Royal North Shore again. PET scan and the beginning of a new treatment regime. I’ll fill in the details when I know more. Meanwhile another wonderful Doctor that I saw this week ( http://www.doctorfluhrer.com ) introduced me to the cell process of Apoptosis (programmed cell death) – and the messenger to get things moving ‘p53’. The inner journey to health continues. So dear Caara – as well as talking to my blood I am now talking to my p53’s! I’ll unravel this mystery for you a best I can very soon. Cheers, James A sunny welcome from SydneyStill worth celebrating, even though I've now been here in Sydney for a day. Sydney turned on the sunshine and warm greetings from family and friends. It is a treat to be 'home' to a new home, even though it is still a mystery where that might be. Ah yes... the heart :-) Still lots to explore!New Melbourne discoveriesNo, I haven't made a lightning side trip to Melbourne to take this pic. I can only assume this image - which I took back in Feb 2010 was stuck in my Aussie mobile phone - waiting to be released into the wilds of Posterous when I turned my phone on again in OZ! Enjoy. After all there are parts of Melbourne that are akin to my spiritual home in Australia - and this pic is right near those magical lanes in the downtown area near Flinders Lane. The power of familyNo doubt that this past 2 weeks has been testament to the power of family. My brother’s Ken and Mark and sister in law Maura came over to support me with all that was going on – little did they know the ride they would be in for! I greatly appreciate all they have done and the mighty task it has been to navigate the medical marvels of the hospital to a point where we are all ready-set to fly internationally tonight.
